The biodiversity of the Cansiglio
Plateau through nature exhibits, dioramas and photographs.

The Museum

The Ecological Museum, founded by the Forestry Inspector Giovanni Zanardo, is located at the scenic entrance to Pian Cansiglio at the edge of a forest in a huge field.

The Museum is home to naturalistic finds from the Plateau, site of the ancient forest of the Cansiglio. The exhibition includes two dioramas with fauna from the area (deer, hare, wild cat…), and various displays containing mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects that inhabit the Cansiglio and Col Nudo-Monte Cavallo, located between the provinces of Belluno, Treviso and Pordenone. Browse through a series of photographs documenting the Karst phenomena and numerous fossils found in the area, along with a collection of prints illustrating the various aspects of the forest.
The State Forestry Corps owns the collection and offers some interesting educational tours for school groups.
